Ending all speculations, Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala Wednesday night invited the BJP to form the new government in Karnataka. In a letter addressed to BS Yeddyurappa, who was earlier today elected leader of BJP Legislature Party, the Karnataka Governor invited him to take oath as the new chief minister of the State besides asking him to prove his majority in the floor of the assembly within 15 days.

The oath-taking ceremony will take place at Raj Bhavan tomorrow (Thursday) at 9 am.

“BS Yeddyurappa will take oath alone tomorrow while other members of his cabinet will be sworn-in only after the chief minister proves his majority in the floor of the house,” news agency ANI quoted BJP leader Murlidhar Rao as saying.

The BJP won 104 seats in the results declared yesterday, eight short of the halfway figure of 112 in the State Legislative Assembly with an effective strength of 222 seats.
