Sachin Tendulkar, one of the greatest cricketers the world has ever seen and someone who is almost worshiped as a demi God in India, celebrated his 45th birthday with his family and a few close friends in Mumbai as wishes poured in from the cricketing world and his fans from across the globe.

The master blaster had a pre-birthday meal at a restaurant in Bandra, Mumbai, and then attended a couple of other functions that also included the book launch of journalist and author Boria Majumdar.

Besides wife Anjali, daughter Sara and brother Ajit, others who joined Sachin at the pre-birthday meal last night were former cricketers Vinod Kambli, Ajit Agarkar and Zaheer Khan.

Meanwhile, wishes poured in from fellow cricketers — both past and present — along with his fans.

Sachin retired from international cricket in 2012, after having set almost every record to his name, playing 200 Tests in which he scored 51 hundreds after making his Test debut on November 15, 1989 against Pakistan at Karachi. In the limited-overs format, the master blaster scored 49 tons in 463 matches.
