Assam sprinter Hima Das, who caught the limelight of the entire nation by reaching the women’s 400 metre sprint finals at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and eventually finishing 6th with a personal best timing of 51.32 seconds, has now been offered a job in the Railways.

Rajen Gohain, Minister of State, Railways, made the announcement through his twitter handle and facebook account, stating that her performance has made the whole of Assam proud and that the Railway ministry has decided to offer her a job under the sports quota.

“A very proud moment for entire Assam at the excellent performance of #HimaDas in #CWG2018 in Australia. I am proud to state that Railways has offered her a job under Sports Quota yesterday. We are waiting for her to join us on her return,” Gohain tweeted.

Incidentally, NF Railway has already sent an offer letter addressed to the sprinter, offering her a job for her exceptional shows in past competitions as well as her feat in the ongoing Gold Coast Commonwealth Games 2018.

The 18-year-old sprinter had made the entire nation and more particularly people of Assam proud by storming into the final of the women’s 400 metre individual sprint event where she, despite finishing 6th, clocked a personal best of 51.32 seconds and improving the 51.53 seconds timing she set in the semi-finals on Tuesday.
