Sprinter Hima Das of Assam made the State and the country proud by making it to the final of the women’s 400 metres event at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games 2018 today. Hima came third, clocking a personal best of 51.53 seconds in the first semi-final to qualify for the final.

The women’s 400-metre final will be held tomorrow.

Meanwhile, there were cheers and jubilant scenes at Hima’s home at Dhing in Assam’s Nagaon district with her family members, relatives, friends and well-wishers hoping that she will be able to win a medal for her country and state.
