For India, weightlifter Sathish Sivalingam won third gold medal in the ongoing 21st Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast today. In the process, the 25-year-old also retained the title he won in the event at the 2014 Games in Glasgow, Scotland with a total lift of 317 kg.
President Ram Nath Kovind has congratulated Sathish Kumar Sivalingam for bagging the Gold in Commonwealth games. In a tweet, President Kovind said, weightlifters, continue to make India proud.

In men’s hockey match against arch-rivals Pakistan, all the excitement came down to the last seven seconds as the Indian team’s perennial problem of conceding late goals left them with a disappointing 2-2 draw in their opening group fixture after leading 2-nil at half-time.
In Badminton, India outplayed Mauritius 3-nil to advance to the semi-finals of mixed team event. India will take on Singapore in the last four-stage tomorrow. In Table-Tennis, Indian paddlers entered the semi-finals in both men’s and women’s team events. The teams defeated Malaysia 3-0 in their quarterfinals.
India have so far won 3 Gold, one Silver and one bronze, and all the medals have come from the weightlifting arena. They were in the fourth place in the overall medal standings.
